My goal for my studio is not only to produce students that play their instrument at a high level and have a good understanding of music theory and history.

I want to help them on their journey to become well rounded individuals. It is important to me that my students can go out into the world with strong self confidence

Learning Environment

One of Dr Suzuki's beliefs is that a child is the product of their environment and that Talent is not inborn. In order to achieve my above goals it is very important to me to work closely with students and parents to create a supportive, encouraging and nurturing learning environment.

Complementary to having ideal environmental conditions, Dr Suzuki believed that with repetition and review a young child could learn an instrument in the same way that they master their language. This is why the Suzuki method is also referred to as the 'mother tongue' approach to learning.

Active Participation

Through active listening to the repertoire CD's, commitment to regular thoughtful practice, observation of other students lessons, regular group and concert attendance, parent and teacher are able to create the ideal situation for the child to learn a musical instrument efficiently and effectively. This is why all students and parents in my studio regardless of age or level are expected to make a firm commitment when they decide to have lessons. There is no hiding that being actively involved in your child's music lessons requires a significant amount of work. The benefits are worth it!

Measuring the success of your child's musical accomplishment should never be measured by how many pieces they can play or how fast they go through the books. There is a lot more to the study of music. Of course you want them to play beautifully but your child will improve their co ordination, cognitive development and abstract reasoning as well as self discipline, memory, cultural literacy, creative thinking, effective communication, concentration, self esteem, performance, leadership and teamwork skills.
